Image
Kylian Mbappe Celebration against Real Madrid in Champions League The Kylian Mbappe transfer saga is not over and Paris Saint-Germain are set to offer him a new contract extension, according to RMC. This new deal would make Mbappe the highest-paid player in the world of football, per that same report. Mbappe turned down a similar offer last summer and he is now free to negotiate with other clubs. Apparently, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Leonardo are no longer in charge of negotiating Mbappe’s extension, with several representatives from Qatar now being the ones talking to the player and his family in an effort to keep him in the French capital past next summer. Reports from the Spanish press suggest that  Real Madrid  believe the situation has not changed at all after PSG’s convincing victory against Los Blancos last Tuesday, which means that Madrid are confident about their chances of signing Mbappe as soon as the 2021-2022 season ends, no mat...

Radio, TV licences for NYSC

Image
It is heartwarming to hear some new measures that the management of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, is taking to improve the welfare of corps members and strengthen faith in an otherwise marvelous scheme that is rapidly losing its allure. The health insurance scheme is a welcome idea because it will ensure that when corps members fall sick, they will have access to adequate care wherever they are serving. We, however, recommend that a comprehensive life insurance policy should be initiated if it is not already in operation. In the unfortunate situation where a corps member suffers permanent disability or dies in active service, there is a need for some financial succour packages for the victims or their families.   Prof. Ishaq Oloyede-Jamb Registrar The Academic Staff Union of Universities has said Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board has no right to conduct higher institutions admission. A statement signed by the national president, ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said JAMB’s action of handling higher institutions admission was an encroachment in to the University autonomy. It explained that JAMB had no power to decide qualification for admission and had no power to give admission or delist programmes of universities. “The autonomy of universities is under increasing threat by the meddlesome activities of JAMB in admission processes and regulation of academic activities in the Nigerian University System.
